On November 30, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin hosted a regular press conference. A reporter asked about the death of former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, what comment China had and how it would miss him.

In response, Wang Wenbin said that Dr. Kissinger is an old and good friend of the Chinese people, a pioneer and builder of China-US relations. Top Chinese officials express condolences to Dr. Kissinger’s family
Wang Wenbin also stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence to US President Biden, expressing deep condolences on the death of Dr. Kissinger and expressing condolences to his family. Xi Jinping said in his message of condolence:
“Dr. Henry Kissinger was a world-renowned strategist and a good friend of the Chinese people. Half a century ago, with his outstanding strategic vision, he made historic contributions to the normalization of China-US relations, which not only benefited both countries but also changed the world. He regards promoting the development of China-US relations and enhancing friendship between the two peoples as his lifelong pursuit. Kissinger’s name will forever be associated with China-US relations. Dr. Kissinger will always be remembered and missed by the Chinese people.”
At the same time, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang sent a message of condolence to Dr. Kissinger’s family. In addition, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission and Minister of Foreign Affairs, sent a message of condolence to US Secretary of State Blinken.
Inherit Dr. Kissinger’s diplomatic wisdom and promote China-US relations
Wang Wenbin pointed out: “Dr. Kissinger attached great importance to China-US relations during his lifetime. He believed that China-US relations are crucial to the peace and prosperity of China and the United States and the world.”
He emphasized that China and the United States should inherit and carry forward Dr. Kissinger’s strategy. With vision, political courage and diplomatic wisdom, we adhere to the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, and follow the important consensus reached at the San Francisco meeting between the heads of state of China and the United States to promote the continuous development of China-US relations.
