An agricultural delegation from China visited historic Waimea Valley, on the North Shore of Oahu, in April 2018.
Guide for the day, in the vast valley, was the chief botanist for Waimea, David Orr. David is one of the leading experts in tropical botanical plants, and with his staff takes care of thousands of varieite of plants from all over the world, growing in the wild. David’s expertise in knowing the many varieties of ginger and their properties is unmatched. His expert explanations were highly valued by the visiting delegation.
The delegation was interested in the wide variety of ginger plants growing in Waimea, in the wild. Waimea Valley has probably one of the largest collections of free-range ginger in the world, including many rare varieties, with unusual benefits from the ginger root.
Led by Asia-Pacific Group, the delegation included Liu Jianzheng, CEO of Wanshing Corporation, one of the largest agricultural companies in China, from Laiwu, Shandong Province.
